Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte in M BG 944

If you need to splurge on one last lipstick this year, let it be none other than a Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte!

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte in M BG 944
First things first, I am not sure if this was limited edition because I simply walked into the counter that day and loved this one. I have tried googling and apparently you can still buy this shade M BG 944 online.

That said, let's focus on the review of the Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte line of lipsticks.

Available: All Shu Uemura counters, $39.

Volume: 3.4 g.

Star Properties: Incredibly creamy yet long-lasting.

Packaging
Love it! I love transparent packaging, and Shu Uemura has got it right with their ultra sleek transparent cap on a futuristic silver bullet.

Also, the top of the transparent cap is an amplifier, basically, it magnifies the lipstick in the tube when you stand the tube in your drawer, so that you can easily see the colour of the lipstick. Ah, the Japanese perfection. Kudos to them for being so thoughtful.

Needless to say, the base of the silver tube is flat, and made for standing.

Furthermore, the roundness of the bullet makes it a real darling to hold in your hand.

In addition, the transparent cap clicks on very tightly, and if I don't guess wrongly, it is in fact made to be somewhat airtight to prolong the life of your lipstick.

The Japanese seem to think of everything, and have a solution for all the problems.

Colour
This colour that I bought is the most amazing, amazing foolproof nude pink ever. It has a heavy rose red undertone (even though it looks pink), and therefore very suitable for people with warm complexion.

You can see the heavy rose red undertone when the camera captures the lipstick this way.
Application and Texture
The Supreme Matte goes on the back of my hand, and also on my lips, very smoothly. It feels extremely creamy and velvety, and is unbelievably light despite carrying tonnes of pigment.

Just look at the swatch! That is one swipe.

Finish
The finish of the Supreme Matte on my lips is definitely matte, and does not looks powdery at all.

Long-lasting
I love to wear this particular matte lipstick for long dinners, like weddings and company dinners. This is because it is ultra long-lasting. And if you perform the ritual of blotting with a single layer of tissue, then re-applying, then blot and re-apply, and finally puff loose powder through the layer of tissue, I SWEAR, that it lasts all night, through all the food and drinks, and never goes away.

Say yes to picture-perfect all night, use the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte!!!

FOTD
And finally, I am guessing most people would like to see how the lipstick ties in with full face makeup, so this is what I wore to a wedding dinner.

The lipstick does look more rose in the lack of lighting (because I was getting ready in the evening).
It was a wedding, it wasn't my big day, so I kept the makeup very, very neutral. And the Supreme Matte M BG 944 is the perfect colour. I made the eyebrows very defined with Bebe Poshe Brow Powder, and lifted my hooded eyes with the Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Eye Palette. I think I probably had Benefit Sugarbomb on my cheeks for just a hint of colour.

Price
Worth it! Better than M.A.C.

Rating: 6/5.
Can I give 7? You get me - this is fantastic. If you're a lipstick junkie, just get it.
Finally found the perfect nude pink neutral holy grail lipstick. =)

On a side note, Shu Uemura actually has a huge collection of lipsticks in many different finish that honestly rivals that of M.A.C. They can give M.A.C a run for the money, so do check Shu Uemura out, especially if you are in Singapore/Asia where it is so easy to find Shu Uemura.
