On Friday after I worked I made a 'quick' trip into the city to do a little bit of retail therapy. I mainly went in to stop by Mecca Cosmetica to grab a few things, though I somehow ended up swinging into Priceline and David Jones along the way. That's always how it goes, isn't it?
My first stop was Priceline. I haven't really picked up any 'drugstore' make up in quite some time and I really want to get back into reviewing and featuring affordable make up here on the blog.
I picked up the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water to see how it compares to the Bioderma Crealine H2O Cleanser which I tried a few years ago and didn't get along with. Yesterday I talked about the SensatioNail Fuse GelNamel Starter Kit so I decided to grab the SensatioNail Gel Polish Removal Tool so I can chop 'n' change my manicure with ease ($9.99). I've been waiting for a Priceline store near me to start stocking the Maybelline Express Remover Nail Polish Remover Pot (long enough name, do you think?) for a while now and I'm so glad it's finally made its way to WA.
For make up, of course, I had to grab a few bits and pieces. Firstly I picked up two of the oh-so-hyped about Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms, #205 Elusive and #220 Showy. Elusive is a warm toned wearable pink that I think will be perfect for everyday and Showy is a somewhat pale cool toned bright pink with blue undertones. I'm so excited about both, especially Showy. Sticking to the jumbo lip pencil trend, I also grabbed a Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in #06 Plum Russian, a beautiful plum colour that's going to be amazing in the cooler weather. I hit the Maybelline display for the eyes, buying a Maybelline Eye Studio Hyper Diamonds Eyeshadow Palette and another Maybelline Colour Tattoo. There's no actual shade name on the eyeshadow palette but I think it's Hyper Berry and I picked up the Colour Tattoo in Tough as Taupe. I know, I know, I don't like the Colour Tattoos but I was really interested in seeing how this seemingly matte shade goes.
I had swatches of the lip crayons and Colour Tattoo but they weren't very true to colour so I scrapped them.
Next, as the name of this post suggests, I stopped by Mecca Cosmetica and David Jones. I haven't felt the best, meaning I've been a bit lazy when it comes to washing my hair, so I wanted to repurchase the Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo. I thought I could go without it in my life but I can't. It cleans my hair like no other. A few ago I got a sample of the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and, of course, I really liked. I grabbed the travel size though as I'm not sure I'm ready to pay $79 for a face primer.
After posting this review I found out that First Aid Beauty is now stocked in David Jones stores (where the heck have I been?!) so I decided to go hunt it down. I found this, the Forever Fab Kit, and I couldn't believe my luck. I'm really enjoying the Facial Renewal Pads and I've paid between $30 - $40 for a pack of 60 online. For $20.65 (marked down from a sale price of $40+ so I have no idea what the original price is) I was able to get the kit which contains a 60 pack of the pads plus two other products, the Detox Eye Roller and Ultra Repair Cream. I couldn't believe my luck! I might even go back next week to see if there's anymore. Would love to stock up on the pads while they're so cheap!
So that's everything I picked up. I'm really looking forward to putting all these products to the test and so far I'm really impressed with them all. If you'd like to see reviews of anything, please let me know!
