If there is one part of my body I love getting pampered the most, it would be my hair! I was already planning on getting my hair re-colored before I fly to Cebu for a 5-day vacation and surprisingly, I was contacted by Ria Yap, Hair Philosophie’s PR Consultant, and invited me to try out their services. I booked on a Sunday (March 11) despite my hectic schedule since it was an opportunity at the right time. I also thought, perhaps I’ll find the salon that I’ll be religiously visiting from then on.
Hair Philosophie is located at 117 Tordesillas Street Finman Building, Salcedo Village Makati City. Since I stayed the night at St. Giles Hotel Makati, it only took me 5-10 minutes to get to the salon. You will easily find it because of the red and eye-catching “Hair Philosophie” sign right outside.
The whole feel of Hair Philosophie salon is industrial chic. Very sosyal, as I may say.
With all the red accents and furniture inside the salon, how could I not love it? It’s not a secret how obsessed I am with anything red! Even their chandelier is red! I asked my hair stylist who came up with the concept of the salon having red accents, Junel told me the owner of the salon consulted feng shui experts before putting everything together. And we all know that red is a luck-attracting color.
The salon has spacious working stations, each with a full-length wooden mirror. Anyone could easily fall asleep [if they wanted to] on the cushioned salon seats.
They have two hair washing stations—the most relaxing area, in my opinion! Don’t you just love the feeling of having water hosed down your hair?
Here you can see their private rooms (where waxing…etc is usually done)
We also have a lounging area where you can relax while waiting.
Perhaps the best thing about this salon is this…
WI-FI! Being a blogger like myself, having Wi-fi wherever I go has become a necessity. Gone are the days when you just stare at yourself in the mirror while your stylist cuts/colors/styles your hair. Now you can tweet, surf the net, browse Facebook and watch YT videos! Now wouldn’t that make waiting even more fun? You won’t even notice the time!
The salon uses high-end hair products like Kerastase, you can be assured your hair is getting the BEST.
Before starting with my treatment, I had to set up my videocam and my tripod. I made a special video about my trip to Hair Philosophie and it’s basically the video form of whatever you are reading right now [this blog entry] You can watch the video here.
Before starting with the procedure, Junel, my hair stylist, helped me assess what hair color I should get. He told me the three things that they consider before choosing a person’s hair color:
- lifestyle
- personality
- skin color
I trusted Junel with his choice (of course, since professionals know what’s best for you!) Here are the shades they applied on my hair:
L’oreal Maji-Lift 12-7
L’Oreal Maji-Lift 12-11
L’Oreal Maji-Blonde (900 S)
*Ash Brown/ Matte Reflect range*
They mixed all three shades.
Raffy, the color technician, was the one who gave me the treatment. He was really informative! I was vlogging the whole time, and he gave every single detail on cam. (You can watch my March 11 “Day in The Life of Say” vlog here)
Let me give you a ‘before’ snapshot of my hair. Any color that you see left is from the Etude House Hair Bubble Coloring in natural Brown.
Here is Raffy starting to apply the color on my hair. He applied the color first on the shaft leaving the ends and the roots alone.
After applying the color on the shaft, the hair was made to “cook” for about 15 minutes or so. Notice how the roots and ends were all untouched.
Next, is the application of the color on the roots. According to Raffy, our scalp has this natural heat making it faster for the color to process (in the roots). If we apply it first, we might end up with the roots looking lighter than the rest of the hair! Lastly, the color was applied on the ends to refresh and entirely even out the hair color.
My hair was left to cook for about 15-25 minutes.
Next up was rinsing! Raffy used only the best hair products to prevent my hair from drying out after the treatment.
The moment of revealing came up next.
If you watch the video, you will see how much I loved the result! Even Raffy and Junel loved their masterpiece.
They did not throw me out of salon with the wet look of course! Blow-drying and styling came next.
Junel and Raffy definitely have the hands of amazing stylists! Junel also gave my hair a fresh layered cut and I observed as they gave my hair lots of volume!
Hello there! And yes, I have tons of baby hair.
Oh, before I forget, Hair Philosophie doesn’t use the traditional looking cape! Look how cute this Kimono-like cape is!
I loved how Junel worked with my hair!
