Hi everyone
so I had some repiratory herbs from Jacob Hooy lying around and without reading the description I added them to my bath. I thought it was a terrible idea of Jacob Hooy, until I read the packaging. The herbs were meant for a steaming session. Duh!
Nevertheless, many stores offer loose herbal mixes to turn your bath into a life size relaxing and beneficial tea.
But using loose herbs has made me realise how unpractical it is. First of all, you need a lot of herbs, especially if they are for aromotherapeutical reasons. Second, the water needs to be hot in order to really soak the herbs, especially thick herbs like chamomile.
The third problem is that it turns the bath water into the color of the herbs. There is nothing romantic about a fluorescent green bath. The fourth problem is that everything sticks to your skin. The fifth problem is that it may stain the bath. The sixth problem is that you need an extra shower head rinse to get all the herbs off. The seventh is that it blocks the drain. The eighth is that you need to scoop out the remains eventually. And finally, bath herbs are such a small amount that they are probably ineffective.
So you may want to stick to the pure easthetic garnishes such as rose petals, or aromatherapy such as fresh lavender stems. Or even better, just a few drops of your favourite essential oil.
And when using herbs in the bath tub, you may want to use a large tea bag that you can find in stores.
