For years i have only spoken about the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish as if it is the only cleanser that exists in the world however i realise it is not and i have just branched out to try something new. Cleanse and Polish is amazing however i have recently started wearing waterproof mascara and it doesn't quite take it all off so i wanted to find something that did. I ended up trying the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm.
Take the Day Off is a range that Clinique does that as it suggests takes your make up off but in all different formulas so there is a cleansing oil, cleansing milk, face wipes and an eye make up remover. The balm appealed to me because i had never tried a cleansing balm before whereas i currently have the Shu Uemera Cleansing Oil and i like that formula with a cleansing brush but on its own i'm never really sure about it. I have now completely used this balm so i am ready to give my full review.
As with all Clinique products this is unscented which is something i quite like about skin care. At first when you try to get some out of the pot it is very hard and you need to rub it to warm some of it up and then you can use it to cleanse your face. It feels like an oil once it has melted but there is a more controlled amount. I did really like the formula of this product and i think it is a good one for portion control. You really don't need much to get your make up off and it works really well on waterproof mascara and takes it all off. I would rub the balm into my face and then use a muslin cloth to take it off. My skin always felt very clean when i took it off and it also didn't leave it feeling to stripped once i had used it.
The reviews for this product are very vague and no one seems to love it or hate it and i kind of have to agree. Some people even used it as a brush cleanser rather than using it on there face and i can imagine this would be an amazing brush cleanser but i never tried it. It is a nice product and it does its job but it is a little bit meh. I do still prefer the cleanse and polish over this and i have since gone back to it and i'm just using an eye make up remover alongside cleanse and polish to really take all of my make up off.
